November 2019
I am staggered how each week a garden can generate enough material, cuttings, weeds and so on to justify a trip to the local recycling centre. Even in winter.
The photo below sums it up. Garden gloves that have been given a wash in preparation of all that spirited work that goes on in the cold and wet months. Lots of gloves, not that we have a team of gardeners, we just have a lot of gardening gloves. At least I do, they fall into the ‘what would he like for his birthday/Christmas’ category. Wine is of course the reward.
The Red – Château Cabezac Tradition Rouge 2018 – the warmth of the garrigue, resplendently reflected in the blend of syrah, grenache and a splash of carignan. Gamey and spicey, bags of rich fruit, a little young right now but with legs for some distance. A perfect wine for the winter evenings.
The White – Comte de Morlieres Chardonnay 2018. A Burgundy look alike so certainly a smart and respectable looking wine, and the content is good too. Full bodies as a result of oak, but still with a depth of peachy fruit. One to savour with a meal more than on its own.
